your employee's workstation
- reduced network traffic: all the work happens on your
server, only the web page is transmitted

Locally (and easily)
Configurable |
|
Many features of the Professional Services
Accounting system are internally configurable, i.e. the set-up options
allow each owner (and, for some options, each operator) to choose for
themselves how the system should look and operate. These options can be
set and re-set with a minimum of difficulty without having to re-install
the system.
Options such as screen colour, date format and search
defaults can be set for each individual operator, while cheque format,
fiscal year end and calculation of services charges, etc. can be set by
the System Administrator for the entire system.
In all, there are over 100 locally configurable
options that govern how the system will operate for you.
But just as important, because this system is written in a modern database
language, special changes to accommodate your own particular needs and
preferences can also be readily implemented. While the system does what it
is supposed to do well, there is nothing that is unchangeable, that cannot
be altered to suit you better. The opportunity for custom enhancements is
very much a part of what this system offers, whether you recognize the
need for specific improvements at the time of installation or at any time
afterwards. You can proceed secure in the knowledge that as you grow or
change, the system can grow with you.

Accounting |
|
You already let the computer take care of
many functions for you, automatically, why not let it handle Debits and
Credits too? Just as engineers have given up slide rules and programmers
have given up their punch cards so, too, there is no longer any need to
think of entering accounting data as we once did: all you need to know is
more or less. And what could be simpler than more is
positive and less is negative? PSA knows internally which accounts
are credit accounts and which are debit accounts and does the proper
arithmetic for you. So an invoice means more
in Accounts Receivable, more in Taxes owed the government, and
more in Revenue, and all are entered as positive numbers.
A Supplier's Invoice, entered as a Payable means more
in Accounts Payable, less in taxes owed the government and more
in expenses, and only the taxes are entered as a negative number.
It's as simple as that. So if formal and traditional
accounting practices have been keeping you from getting the most out of
your accounting data, PSA can make it much easier, without breaking any of
the really important accounting rules.

Billing Rates |
|
How much is that hour on the time sheet?
That all depends, on several factors, not all of which must be included in
your installation--you can choose which ones to work with:
Position: People normally work in
a particular position but may occasionally work in more than one. For
example, in an Engineering environment, a Senior Engineer may be charged
out at a higher rate when acting as Project Manager, or a lower rate when
taking on Junior Engineer tasks to help complete an assignment. PSA
manages the rate differentials automatically.
Location: for engineers, in
particular, work done in the office is often charged for at a different
rate than work done in the field, or off-shore.
Activity: PSA supports
applying a percentage adjustment to Activities so that, in an Accounting
environment for example, a CA doing Audit work can be charged out at 110%
of his or her normal rate (or less for more mundane tasks that still have
to be done).
Rate Schedule: PSA allows
for many different rate schedules to accommodate changing conditions or
special deals. What that person in that position performing that activity
earns depends on the rate schedule in effect when the invoice is issued.
Override: After everything
else has been applied, there is still an opportunity to ignore everything
at invoicing time and simply enter a special rate for a particular
instance of time (or materials) booked.
Discounts: After normal
charge-outs have been calculated, a discount can be applied to the entire
billing (or portions of it, normally discounts do not apply to
disbursements)

Currencies |
|
Conversion to and from foreign currencies
are handled automatically, based on rates you maintain in the Currency
table. As rates changes, new entries keep your data current, but the
ability to override for particular situations is always there. The
currencies the system can handle is always under your control.
